Katrina is beginning a collaboration with the dancer and choreographer Kyra Norman. Katrina says:
‘I’m really excited to be working with Kyra. I’ve always danced, every since I was three years old. As a poet I’ve always wanted to collaborate with a dancer. Kyra’s a fantastic dancer, and I love her approach to dance. I don’t know where our collaboration will lead but I’m open to seeing where it takes us – maybe a production, maybe a film, maybe a book, maybe somewhere else – but wherever we go, I know I’m going to enjoy it.’
Kyra says:
‘I’m really looking forward to starting work together, and to immersing ourselves in moving and in words. I met Katrina’s poems quite a while before I met her, and I really enjoy – and am moved by – her words, so I’m excited to have this opportunity to collaborate. In my own work, I’m always fascinated by how words and images surface in the mind when we move, and what we might do with those thoughts. From our initial conversations I can already sense an opening up of rich possibility: a shared curiosity and commitment to process, and to letting things surface through doing. ‘
Katrina will post updates on the collaboration soon.
