Collections

Wild Persistence, Katrina’s third collection (Seren, June 2020), received an Author’s Foundation award from the Society of Artists.
The Way the Crocodile Taught Me (Seren, 2016) was chosen as a #FoylesFive for poetry.
The Girl with the Cactus Handshake (Templar Poetry 2009) received an Arts Council writer’s award and was shortlisted for the 2010 London New Poetry award.

Artistic Collaborations/Exhibitions

I am currently collaborating with dancer/choreographer Kyra Norman.
My collaboration with poet Helen Mort resulted in Same But Different, a joint collection of poems, published by Hazel Press, 2021. Same But Different won the 2022 Saboteur Award for best collaboration.
Recent collaborations include: a poetic-visual art project, ‘After an hour’, with artist Tim Ridley, and ‘Elements’ with film-maker Anna Cady. Previous collaborations include: working with cellist Un Suk Chin and the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra (2015).
‘The Argument: Art V Poetry’, a collaboration with the artist, Tim Ridley, was toured and exhibited throughout the UK (2013/14). ‘Charlotte Brontë’s Corset’, my one-woman poetry installation was exhibited at the Brontë Parsonage Museum, Haworth, throughout 2010.

Translation

I’ve translated Leo Boix (Argentinian Spanish); Yohanna Jaramillo (MexicanSpanish); Dakotsu Iida and Yasuaki Inoue (Japanese). All of these translations have appeared in Modern Poetry in Translation.
I have a translation from Kernewek (the Cornish language) forthcoming from Modern Poetry in Translation.
My poetry has been translated into German, Japanese, Romanian and Spanish.


Education

I hold a PhD in creative writing (Goldsmiths, University of London, supervised by Stephen Knight and Blake Morrison). I was a Jerwood-Aldeburgh mentee. MA in creative & life writing (Goldsmiths) and MA in Commonwealth History, Birkbeck, University of London.  


Poetry Tutoring Experience

I’m a tutor at Arvon, Ty Newydd and the Poetry School. I was the Anne Born Prize mentor for the Poetry Society and also mentor poets at Young & Talented Cornwall.
I’m a post-doctoral researcher at Goldsmiths. I’ve taught at Goldsmiths, Roehampton, Falmouth University, Exeter University, etc.
I also teach writing at a community level, including Women’s Aid in Cornwall and the ex-offenders ‘Together Women’ project in Bradford, plus various National Poetry Day events. I’ve mentored PhD students, teenagers in London schools, and tutors on teaching in prison.
As a former human rights worker, I’ve run writing workshops for Roma teenagers in Bulgaria and for journalists at the Council of Europe.
